In the summer of 2009, Independent Thinking conducted a leadership survey. We asked individuals who began headships in July 2008 and 2009 to share their resumes. With the resume information as data, we examined what trends and patterns were apparent in who was being hired to run schools today. In addition, heads who had been on the job for at least a year, offered responses to a few questions about their experiences. This information is helpful for Boards to consider when planning how best to support a new head of schools AND for future school leaders as they work to gain the necessary relevant experience.
Return to the Independent Thinking home page and read some of the responses to What suprised you most about being a head of school? in the Independent Blogging section.
